I'm getting kinda tired of having all of our dishtowels stained with various colored icings as well as the mess it makes. These lids fit snugly over the mixing bowls and keep the icing air-tight (or close enough to it) so you don't have to hurry while decorating those cookies with royal icing and have it get all hardened on you. it's one of those products that you say to yourself "am I really going to buy this? I can just use a dishtowel." Make your spouse happy and buy it. Since my wife was having a problem with mixer splashing out I had hoped this would stop that while allowing her to still add ingredients. I ended up using a sharp knife and cutting a hole in the middle circle of one of the units and she loves how it works. She has the second one to use as a cover when she needs to.
