5.0 out of 5 stars Great Second Bowl!, April 3, 2010
By
A Reader (Steinbach, Hessen Germany) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KitchenAid 5-Quart Glass Bowl (Kitchen)
This is a great second bowl that makes baking go faster when you need 2 bowls for one recipe or multiple baking. It's microwavable and sturdy. My children love watching the batter mix around through the glass. (I used to have to pick them up to let them peer into the bowl while mixing.)I also did not have to adjust the height of my beater blade (although the manual says you may have to). Thus, I can switch from my stainless steel bowl to my glass bowl without any hassle. The only negative thing I can think of is that this bowl is heavier than the steel bowl, and I have wrist injuries. Nonetheless, I still can use it easily for baking and love it! So I give it 5 stars for fun, easy, practical baking!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Upgrade for a 4.5 qt Mixer as well, August 14, 2010

This review is from: KitchenAid 5-Quart Glass Bowl (Kitchen)
I have a 4.5 qt mixer and checked with kitchen aid to see if this 5qt bowl would
fit. They said it would and it arrived yesterday. I made my first cake in it and
was very pleased. The bowl is easy to put on and doesn't hit the pedestal.
I loved being able to see the ingredients through the bowl. The bowl
looks fabulously swanky on the stand mixer. They bowl is a bit heavy, but
that is minor.

Love It! Love It! Why didn't KitchenAid think of this product years ago? The bowl has measurements which makes it easy to see how much batter you actually have for a recipe. The bowl is wide enough to pour ingredients in without the pouring shield. Also, it has a pouring spout! Dough and batter doesn't stick as much to the bottom of the bowl, less stopping and scraping (yea!) I am impressed with this product so much that I am purchasing another one from Amazon in a few minutes. I haven't seen this product in any of the major stores yet! Amazon has a great price for this bowl, believe me it is worth every dollar!!!

I bought this mixer because Cook's Illustrated recommended it. I can see, after 3 months, that CI was spot-on. It is a substantial-sized kitchen tool, and I've used it at least once a week since getting it. Primarily I bought this for bread mixing, and it clomps along even on the firmest dough (though it does "hop" a bit on firm doughs). The powerful engine can handle anything I throw at it. It also does a fabulous job on whipped cream -- far better-textured than a hand-mixer could make. I've used it to make cakes and cream-cheese dips, frostings and herb butters, and there just doesn't seem to be much this mixer can't do to perfection. It's not a food processor, so don't expect it to chop and dice or to cut butter into biscuit dough, but it fulfills its function perfectly. It's heavy-duty and substantial, and so easy to hand-wash I haven't bothered putting its components through the dishwasher. 100% recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 1st Stand mixer & I love it!, April 26, 2011

Pipigurl (Bay Area, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KitchenAid KSM75WH Classic Plus Tilt-Head 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer, White (Kitchen)
My mother-in-law gave me this mixer for Christmas. I was actually planning on getting the KitchenAid KSM150PSOB Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Onyx Black because of its higher motor capacity. But I got this as a gift so I'm not complaining! I've used it on cake and brownie batter, bread and pizza dough... you name it. This mixer has performed so wonderfully! I turn it off every now and then, though, and push the dough down with a spatula just so the motor could rest for a few seconds. It's like a vacuum cleaner that when left on for several minutes straight, the motor would wear out quick. I also made scones and even pie crust with the paddle attachment and boy was it fast! I'd turn my back a few seconds to wash a couple dishes and when I come back to look the dough's all done! This mixer brought back my old love for baking. I... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars leaking seal, October 18, 2010
This review is from: KitchenAid KSM75WH Classic Plus Tilt-Head 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer, White (Kitchen)
I have had this mixer for 5 vyears and use it occasionaly. The seal on the mixer shaft leaks oil into the bowl. KitchenAid says this is normal and one should use the mixer at least once a week to stop the leakage. This is a poor solution to the problem! This seal on the shaft needs a redesign. Be aware of this problem. This is a common problem. Check the internet to find other comments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously works, incredible value., September 15, 2007
Well for one thing, this product works. Very, very well. I've used many different shakers for making protein shakes or whatever else and this one is far and away the best.

It seals really well, nothing leaks out and nothing is a mess. It's easy to clean. And best of all it really really blends whatever is inside.

I put 4 big scoops of powder into this guy and some water and such and then even crushed ice, and it blends everything together very nicely. No chunks no leaking no mess and even blends the ice in nicely.

Don't bother with other shakers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Protein Shake Maker Around, July 13, 2008
By
Like the prior reviewer, I have tried in frustration to use the cheap, freebie mixers from supplement orders. All suffered from two problems; leaks (protein shake on your gym shirts/shorts - Arrgh.) and poor mixing of whey protein and other powders.

This shaker bottle has a tight fitting screw on lid, and a securely closing pop-open top that have never leaked, not once.

I thought that the stainless steel "blender ball" seemed like a gimmick but it WORKS GREAT, mixing even hard-to-mix supps like BCAAs well. Whey powder, Gatorade powder and such are a breeze. Just make sure you have an ounce or two of liquid on the bottom before adding powder and you're set.

(TOP 10 REVIEWER)    (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)    (VINE VOICE)
This product does exactly what it's supposed to do, blends powders for drinks. I've used several other protein shakers in the past, most specifically the Bodytech - Bodytech Shaker Bottle, 1 piece and I always have drinks that come out not completely mixed. It's pretty disgusting to be drinking a protein shake and take a bit out of a big clump of unblended whey powder. I can vigorously shake one of those shakers for 20 minutes and not get results as effective as 10 seconds with the Blenderbottle. It doesn't even require much effort, since the blenderball does most of the work (rather than your arm). The lid on the top fits very snugly. Unlike other shakers where I have to hold down the lid to prevent it from opening up while I'm shaking it and spraying my drink everywhere, the lid on the Blenderbottle is very secure. For the first few... Read more
