4.0 out of 5 stars Search for the holy blender..., July 31, 2006

Band Dad (Orlando, FL) - See all my reviews
I have been looking for a blender for a few weeks now. We have started making smoothies at home and burned up our old one. Our girls like the "Chocolate Elvis" recipe from the local smoothie place which contains peanutbutter, bananas, yogurt, ice, and milk. I guess this is really hard on blenders. I bought one at Target 2 weeks ago that had "700 watts peak power" on the box. It died in 2 days. The power spec on the bottom of the blender said 450 watts. I think that is false advertisement. I have seen this on 2 different blenders now.

I have been leery of buying any blender with the little plastic teeth couplers because of all the bad reviews here on Amazon. I also wanted to stay away from anything with only 450 watts.

I was in another store and saw this blender. It has a new design for where the blades couple with the motor. "Commercial quality couplers with 12 interlocking teeth....coated for quiet operation".

We have had it for a few days now and... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars They Redesigned The Container (carafe)!!!, May 25, 2008

We bought this Kitchenaid blender over a year ago, and after several months the container started to leak. The leak was small, and we put up with it for awhile. We finally got tired of the mess, however, and called the factory. We were told that the container had been redesigned, and they would send us a new one immediately even though our warranty had expired. When we got the new one we could see that it had indeed been redesigned, and have used it for some time now, and NO LEAKS. A leak proof container plus the other great features of this blender now warrant a definite five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do Yourself a Favor and Buy this Fantasitc Blender, December 21, 2006
By
My husband and I make smoothies almost every single night (as in, 6-7 nights/week), so we're really hard on our blenders. We have been through 4 blenders in the last 3 years alone. We started with a cheap Oster blender, but quickly realized that it was pretty much useless for the thick smoothies we like to make. Next, I bought the Back to Basics Smoothie Elite, which was great for as long as it held up, but as it turned out, that was only 6 months. So, we upgraded to the Back to Basics Smoothie Professional, which was great until I dropped the glass jar into the sink and broke it, only to find that you couldn't buy a new one ANYWHERE so my $120 blender was now worthless.

After all this, I decided to stop fooling around and buy a Kitchenaid. This blender has all the power you need (way more power than any of the first 3 blenders I bought; both the smoothie blenders came with a stir stick, but such a thing isn't even necessary when you have the power of this Kitchenaid),... 4.0 out of 5 stars Not 100% mixer friendly, March 22, 2010
    Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: KitchenAid Best-Loved Recipes (Hardcover)
This is a beautifully illustrated and well done cookbook with many great recipes. However, many recipes are duplicated in the booklet that comes with the KitchenAid mixer and far too many are recipes that don't use a mixer at all. As a new KitchenAid customer, I was expecting far more ways to use my mixer in the cooking process. That being said, I don't think anyone would be unhappy with the book at this price.

I bought the KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer. It sat on my counter for a month, not being used. So I bought The KitchenAid Best Loved cookbook. This cookbook has pictures for nearly every recipe, and the recipes are explained well. However, parts of the book are beyond my cooking needs. For instance, the Appetizer section: recipes are for high-brow types, not down home South Georgia types like me. The Cakes, Cookies, Candies and Desserts are more my speed, as I am familiar with these goodies.(What Southern cook isn't?) Only about 5 of the entrees were useful for my needs, but they sure are useful! I liked only a couple of salads, and side dishes. So, I probably won't get my moneys worth from this book. Someone who entertains a lot, would do well to buy this book.

A little disappointed as I believed that all recipes were made to use of my stand mixer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I know how to use my Kitchen Aid, November 4, 2005
I've had a Kitchen Aid for 3 years, but never used it as anything more than a souped up hand mixer. A friend gave me this book along with the pasta roller and grinder attachments about a month ago. I've used a half dozen recipes out of this book and all have been great and in the process I've really learned to use my Kitchen Aid. Learning to use the pasta roller was more than worth the price of the book and the pasta recipes are killer. If your buying a Kitchen Aid or giving somebody one as a present this book is the perfect compliment - its really expanded what I can do with my mixer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrificly Useful!, November 6, 2005
I was so pleased to receive this book from a friend. At first, I wasn't sure that it would be useful to me as I do not have the different attachments for my mixer other than what it came with. I was so pleasantly surprised to find so many wonderful recipes that do not require extra attachments. So far, (I think the Orange Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake and the Potato and Cheese Pierogi's are my favorite, but I am working my way through the recipes and may find new favorites tomorrow!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost without it, July 21, 2006
      By
Bought a lovely Kitchenaid stand mixer.

And that's what it did. Stand. And do nothing. Until I bought this book.

Seriously, Kitchenaid should up the price of the mixer by the cost of this book, and throw it in as an essential attachment.

Very helpful, lots of explanations and tips. Couldn't work without it. If you splashed out for the mixer, splash out for the book. It's as essential as the power cord.
