There are two places to sit the bowl. One is on center, and the other is off center, depending what you are doing.The bowl is designed to be placed off center when you are using beaters, so that it goes up against the side of the bowl, not just in the middle. One of the beaters is shaped to hug the side of the bowl, so you get a nice mix. The mixer starts slower for a couple seconds before going into the regular speed you set it at, so you don't get a face full of flour. The head will lock in place when you lift it up, so you don't have to worry about it plopping back into the bowl. I like the shape of the bowl better than some more expensive mixers. Nice dough hooks! Overall I feel pretty happy buying this instead of a much more expensive stand mixer. I mostly like to bake bread, and will use a wire whip to do cake batters by hand most of the time. But it is nice to have mixer that will make a lot of batter, and be able to handle... There is very little I don't like about it, in fact. I have used it several times, 2 cakes, a cheesecake, 3 batches of pumpkin bread and in each case it did pretty much all it was supposed to do. It comes with one large bowl, beaters and dough hooks. At the time you first take it out of the box you will notice that there are two positions in which you can place the turntable. One is centered and the other is offset. You want to use the one that is offset so the cone beater will clear the side of the bowl. (If you put the turntable in the incorrect position, you will have a situation where the beaters only mix at the center of the bowl and do not work the side at all.) You will also want to make sure that the cone-shaped (rounded) beater is on the side of the bowl and the square one in the center--they have color-coded the beaters to make this easy. She phoned yesterday to say how much she loved her mixer. It was perfect for mixing up all those baked goodies her family loves. We discussed purchasing another name brand and she said she had looked at several and thought that this would be the best for her and her kitchen.I am glad that I made this purchase over the more expensive stand mixer. I know she is also.Has plenty of power and is a heavy duty stand mixer. |
